there are some handy apps out there and i'm curious if anyone has used, is using a program they found great for spicific tasks etc.
for example i have a program called foulderprintplus and what it does is 'index's what is on a drive, or disk i.e. dvd and creates a text document for it now when someone like myself has 200 dvd's of backups of everything you could think of and I wanted to find by backup of winrar i use windows search and search drive E: ( which i partitionied to only 5 gig ) drive E: containes all the text documents of the folderprintplus exports of each dvd, cd etc, ea cd is labeled 'cd 1' - cd 2, cd 3 , etc now when I search it finds it in disk 50 and i know where it is immediatley -------------------- ![]() |

My list of programs incudes the GIMP, Openoffice.org, Irfanview, and Soundforge, and of course Foobar2000 for my primary media player. I do have others installed for video which are rarely used. Word 2000 is the only MS app that I actually 'need' due to Openoffice's poor table creation.
Webbrowsing is Opera and Firefox my win2k crashbox has Real player/Itunes forgot about 7-zip, much better than that ugly beast winzip I used many years back. edit: grammatical fix This post has been edited by Cisco_Kid: Jan 20 2008, 12:13 AM -------------------- Started talking to yourself I see.

Samba is another program I can't live without. It's one of those back end install and forget things, but it runs a huge chunk of my network, so it's important as part of my server install.
I'm looking forward to when it supports active directory more, too. -------------------- |

Another one to add Kompozer - which is the successor to NVU. I am not trying to do the 'created all from scratch in notepad route' and this strikes a nice balance.

I have had inkscape sitting on my server for some time but have yet to install it . The versions are (I just checked) are 0.43.2 and 0.45.1 I have noticed that 'K' is overused for the *nix/opensource world. -------------------- Started talking to yourself I see.
